Born from a frustration
every Indian renter knows
It started with a WhatsApp message at 11 PM: "Sir, is this flat veg-only? East facing? Is bachelor allowed?" — questions no property portal could answer. So the prospective tenant spent three weekends physically visiting 14 flats, only to be turned away from nine of them for reasons that could have been filtered in 10 seconds.
That was our founder's experience searching for a flat in Mysuru in 2023. He was an IT professional relocating from Pune — vegetarian, wanted vastu compliance, needed a bachelor-friendly building. Not a single platform could narrow down his search by these criteria. Every filter was about price and location. Nothing about the Indian life lived inside those four walls.
"I realised the problem wasn't a lack of listings. It was a lack of the right filters — filters designed for the way Indian families actually choose homes."
Orbit Housing was founded in Mysuru in early 2024 with one mission: build the real estate platform India's renters and buyers actually needed. Not a copy of Zillow or Airbnb adapted for India — but something built from scratch, understanding India first.
